5 Women That Rule Our Tech World

There have been numerous debates and plenty of noise on why the percentage population of women in the domain of technology, be it on the media side of things or setting up businesses related to technology, continues to remain thin. While that debate can go on, we at Pricebaba definitely believe in woman power. On May 8th, the International Women’s Day, we want to list out and pay tribute to five women from the world of tech that have rocked our world.

These are ladies, among many, that we look up to, draw inspiration from and try and learn as much as possible. So, let’s reveal the names now, shall we?

Gwynne Shotwell

Gwynne

Gwynne Shotwell is a very well known name in the world of Space travel. She currently serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX, an Aerospace manufacturing company founded by Elon Musk. While the spotlight stays pretty much constantly on Elon for his exploits, it is Gwynne who quitely goes about her business in ensuring that you and I can finally fulfill our fantasy of space travel very soon. Joining as a Vice President of Business Development, back in 2002, Gwynne has been a constant fix at the SpaceX and a major name behind the success stories.

Kara Swisher

Kara

Kara Swisher is best known for being the Founder of All Things Digital, where she served as the co-executive editor with Walt Mossberg. The annually held ‘D Conference’ was one of the most keenly awaited events around the tech calendars and featured famous episodes such as bringing Steve Jobs and Bill Gates on the same stage together. Post her stinct with All Things Digital, Kara alongside Walt went on to form Re/Code, a technology reporting website, which later went on to become a part of the Vox Media.

Marissa Mayer

Marissa

Often credited for being the woman who turned the fortunes of a struggling Yahoo, Marissa has been referred to being the most powerful female CEO in the domain of tech related companies. Before she joined Yahoo as the CEO back in 2012, Marissa was a part of Google. She was in fact, the first female engineer at Google. Starting out humbly as a coder, she gradually grew in stature holding key positions in the Google Product Search, Maps and Gmail teams.

Arianna Huffington

Ariana

Best known for being the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, Arianna is also a celebrated author, columnist and an occasional actress. In 2014, she was listed as the 52nd most powerful woman in the world by Forbes. She is originally from Greece before she moved to England as a 16 year old. The ‘Sunday Roundup’ columns on The Huffington Posts, written by Arianna are some of the most popular columns that we always keep a keen eye on.

Sheryl Sandberg

Sheryl

Sheryl Sandberg is currently serving Facebook as their Chief Operating Officer. She also holds the accolade of being the first female to be elected to the Board of Facebook, when she was elected by the existing board members back in 2012. Just like Marissa Mayer, Sheryl is an ex-Google employee where she played a key role in the launch of Google.org. Sheryl’s net worth in the current market is well over $1.30billion mark thanks to stocks that she holds in Facebook and other companies.

While, we may have just picked only five women to feature in our post today, we would be doing a disservice if we did not recognize and congratulate each and every woman out there for being there. Like Mark Twain famously said, “What would men be without women? Scarce, sir…mighty scarce.” On this note, each and every one of us at Pricebaba, salute women, you are the rock of our world.
